The Project Team

The team is Shelley Hales and Nic Earle and we both work at the University of Bristol, where the project is based.

Shelley is a Senior Lecturer in Art and Visual Culture in the Department of Classics & Ancient History. Her PhD was on Roman Houses and she has written a book on this topic. She has co-organised conferences, given papers and published articles on nineteenth century reconstructions of Pompeii. In this project, Shelley is taking responsibility for gathering the archive data.

Second life name: Gwendoline Beningborough

Nic is E-Learning Co-ordinator at the Education Support Unit. His PhD was concerned with developing visual channels of communication within social virtual worlds such as Second Life and he has published articles on this topic. Nic’s role in the project is to construct the Model and to take the lead on research questions concerning the educational use of the technology and interface design.
